AADTA OPPOSED SWAYAM

NEW DELHI — Delhi University has officially permitted students to earn up to five per cent of their total degree credits through online learning platforms like SWAYAM, sparking an intense campus debate.

The policy, implemented under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines, allows four-year undergraduate students to earn up to eight credits online, while postgraduate students can obtain up to four credits. These digital credits can be applied directly toward Value Added Courses (VACs) and Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs).
While university officials defend the move as a major step toward flexible, interdisciplinary learning, the Academic for Action and Development Teachers Association (AADTA) has strongly opposed the decision, warning that it marks the beginning of a gradual dilution of traditional classroom-based education.
