No work of DU will stop because of Delhi Government: Chief Minister
DU will work in full cooperation with Delhi Government in advancing education: Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh

Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said that any work of University of Delhi will not stop because of Delhi Government. Mrs. Rekha Gupta was addressing as the chief guest in her felicitation ceremony in University of Delhi. On this occasion, she refreshed the memories of her student life and said that it is DU's Daulat Ram College that made her a leader. While presiding over the program on this occasion, DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that Delhi Government and University of Delhi will work together. DU will have full cooperation with Delhi Government in advancing education.
Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, while telling the story of her becoming a leader, said that when I came to Daulat Ram College in the first year in 1993, the strike continued in the college throughout the year. Due to this, my contact with DUSU representatives increased and then I came in contact with ABVP. I became DUSU President in the final year. She told that she did political programs in DU colleges and in Delhi by riding a scooty.
The Chief Minister said that she had never thought that the roads on which she was roaming in Delhi would ever be hers to be repaired. She had never thought that one day she would get respect in the VC office where she used to sit on dharna and would have to speak from the stage there. The Chief Minister said that being a DU student, whatever is my duty, I will fulfil it with full responsibility. Any work of DU is not going to stop because of the Delhi government. Rekha Gupta said that work will be done to increase educational tourism along with tourist places in Delhi. While reminiscing the memories of the streets of DU, the Chief Minister also remembered the wall in front of Daulat Ram College, and the Bhelpuri and Lemon Soda there.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, in his presidential address, congratulated Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta and said that just as parents and teachers are happy with the progress of their children, universities and colleges are also happy. It is a matter of pride and honour for all of us that DU student Smt. Rekha Gupta has become the Chief Minister of Delhi. He told the Chief Minister that DU is proud of her. You saw DU as a student, as DUSU President, as a city councillor and now it is your turn to see it as the Chief Minister. The Vice Chancellor said that you will be the role model and source of inspiration for all the girl students sitting here. Your coming will inspire our students. Along with this, the Vice Chancellor also described many achievements of DU including reservation of seats in admissions for single girl child and orphan children in DU.
At the beginning of the programme, SOL Director Prof. Payal Mago welcomed all the guests including the chief guest. Daulat Ram College Principal Prof. Savita Roy welcomed the Chief Minister on behalf of her college. At the end of the ceremony, DU Proctor Prof. Rajni Abbi expressed her gratitude. On this occasion, DU South Campus Director Prof. Sri Prakash Singh and Dean Student Welfare Prof. Ranjan Tripathi, along with many deans, department heads, principals, teachers, officers and employees and hundreds of students were present.
