DU delegation led by Anoop Lather meets President

President appreciated Delhi University's introduction of orphan category for admissions

The Centre for Independence and Partition Studies (CIPS), University of Delhi, in collaboration with the Dean of Students Welfare (DSW), organized a visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan and Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum on Friday, March 28, 2025. The visiting delegation was led by DU PRO Anoop Lather. Prof. Ravinder Kumar, Director, CIPS and Prof. Ranjan Kumar Tripathi, DSW were especially present on the occasion. The delegation also met the President on the occasion. President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, during her interaction with the students, lauded the initiative of DU in introducing orphan category in admissions.

On the occasion, Anoop Lather presented a souvenir to President Smt. Draupadi Murmu on behalf of the University of Delhi. Director CIPS, Prof. Ravinder Kumar briefly introduced the purpose of the visit to the Honourable President. He highlighted the introduction of the orphan category as an empowerment initiative of Prof. Yogesh Singh, Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, besides other initiatives. The Honourable President appreciated this initiative taken by the University of Delhi. She also interacted with the students and encouraged the students to share their experience of University of Delhi and encouraged the students to share their experience of University of Delhi. The interaction ended with the group photograph followed by high tea hosted by Rashtrapati Bhavan.

                   


                       

Post high tea the entire team was given a guided tour to witness the grandeur of the President house. Following that the team also got the opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan museum. The officials of the Rashtrapati Bhavan very modestly and diligently hosted the entire team of University of Delhi. Vision of this visit was designed by Prof. Shri Prakash Singh , Director South Campus. The team also included Professor Jyoti Trehan Sharma, Joint Director, CIPS; Prof. Sangeeta Gadre, Joint Dean, DSW; Professor Hena Singh, Joint Dean, DSW; and Dr. Hemant Verma, Joint Dean, Cultural Council along with 28 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of Delhi, admitted under the orphan category.
