The Department of Economics, Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi has successfully organised NRC-ICSSR sponsored Two Day Workshop on Time Series 

                   



The Department of Economics, Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi has successfully organised NRC-ICSSR sponsored Two Day Workshop on Time Series Analysis with R on December 2nd and December 3rd 2024 for research scholars, faculty and industry professionals. The workshop has benefited more than 50 participants from across universities such as Central University of Punjab, Central University of Haryana, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawahar Lal Nehru University and University of Delhi. The chief patron and patron of the workshop were Prof. B.K.Kuthiala, Chairman of Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi and Prof. V.K. Paliwal, Principal of Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi respectively. 

                       


The workshop began with inaugural session on December 2nd, 2024 at the Seminar Room, Dyal Singh College. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, Shri. Kaushalendra Kumar, Hon.Member of Parliament (Nalanda, Bihar), Lok Sabha, motivated students to continue the legacy of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, founder of ‘The Tribune’, Punjab University and ‘Punjab National Bank’, who willed his vast wealth in 1895 for the setting up of an Education Trust for a truly secular college. He reminded the gathering that generosity always leads to prosperity. 

Prof. V.K. Paliwal, Principal, Dyal Singh College highlighted the achievements of college and commitment to academic excellence. He recognised the efforts of the Economics Department for organising the workshop and appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants. He spoke about the importance of proficiency in latest software for a researcher. 

                         


Dr.Debdatta Saha, Associate Professor, South Asian University, the keynote speaker had discussed the importance of causality and chronology in Social Sciences. She explained the historical evolution of time series in various fields including mercantile necessities, economics growth, international trade and its impact on internet and social media during contemporary digital age. She also differentiated between stochastic vs. algorithmic data modelling.

Dr.Reetika Garg, Dr.Lokendra Kumawat, Prof. Narain and Dr.Apica Sharma who are Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Assistant Professor in Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics, Ramjas College, University of Delhi, Faculty of Management Studies and IILM University, Gurgaon respectively conducted the technical sessions over two days. Overall the workshop was well received and appreciated by the participants.
