Two new PG courses of MA Hindi Journalism and MA in Tourism Management started: Prof. Yogesh Singh

University of Delhi (DU) has launched its admission policy for the academic year 2025-26 on Tuesday, June 17. With the launch of the admission portal by DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh during a press conference, the bugle of admissions for undergraduate, postgraduate, 5-year law, B.Tech. and PhD and SOL in the university was rang. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh also launched the 'Bulletin of Information' related to admissions. Along with this, the portal was also launched for registration in 5-year integrated law and B.Tech. programs. Allocation-cum-admission has been started in various postgraduate programs of DU.
While talking to journalists, Prof. Yogesh Singh said that from this year two new PG courses 'MA in Hindi Journalism' and 'MA in Tourism Management' have also been started in DU. The Vice Chancellor said that MA Journalism will also be started soon in the English Department of DU. He said that this year an additional quota for single girl child has also been added in postgraduate programs. One seat has been reserved for single girl child in each PG program. The Vice Chancellor said that some amendments have also been made in the UG admission process based on the experience of previous years. After the upgrade in the admission portal, now direct auto accept mode has been implemented so that no applicant misses the allotment. He said that admissions in DU's Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) will start soon. Female candidates of Delhi NCT can take admission through NCWEB. Admissions will be based on the merit score of class 12. In response to a question during the press conference, the Vice Chancellor said that the CSAS portal also works on mobile, but he suggested to the applicants to work on laptop or desktop computer only because all the features can be seen properly on these devices. On a question asked about CUET and the earlier admission process in DU, the Vice Chancellor said that with the arrival of CUET, the representation of students from many states has increased in DU. He said that now children from small towns and state boards are also coming forward to take admission in DU. In response to a question, the Vice Chancellor said that the academic session will start from August 01, 2025.
On this occasion, Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Director of South Campus Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Director of COL/SOL Prof. Payal Mago, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, DU PRO and Chairperson of Culture Council Anoop Lather and Dean Admissions Prof. Haneet Gandhi were also present.
53, 609 Registration for 82 programs in PG: Prof. Yogesh Singh
DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that this year there will be admission in a total of 82 programs in postgraduate (PG). The total number of seats are 13,432 (including NCWEB). Registration for postgraduate programs started on May 16, 2025 and closed on June 12, 2025. The total number of registered candidates is 53, 609. These include 23117 boys and 30490 girls and 02 transgenders. He said that the total registration for DU's unique programs was 57,222, out of which the most popular program was LLB in which 9,270 registrations were done. Total registrations in MA Political Science were 4,996. He said that the number of applications received for single girl child quota in PG are 1,131. The number of applications received for orphan quota are 90.
Admission to undergraduate (UG) programs
DU’s Dean Admissions Prof. Hanit Gandhi said that the first phase of UG has been launched today, the second phase will be started after the results of CUET are released. Admission in regular colleges of University of Delhi will be done through CUET scores. Giving detailed information about UG admissions through PPT, she said that DU will give admission in 79 undergraduate programs through its 69 colleges. DU offers a combination of 186 BA programs. 71,624 seats have been offered in the colleges of the university for UG admissions. She informed that keeping in mind the change in the list of subjects proposed by NTA this year, DU has revised its eligibility conditions for most of the programs. Most of the programs have dual eligibility, in which candidates can choose one language + three subjects or two languages and two subjects. The best score out of these will be considered. Similarly, the requirement of obtaining at least 30% marks in languages in CUET for BSc (Hons) programmes has been removed.
6,030 students registered for B.Tech
University of Delhi offers admission to B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.Tech Electrical Engineering. Admission to these programmes is based on the marks obtained in JEE (Mains) Paper I. Registration for B.Tech programmes started on May 16, 2025 and closed on June 12, 2025. According to the registration data, the total number of candidates registered this time is 6,030. Out of these, the number of boys is 4,349, the number of girls is 1,681. The total number of girls applying for Single Girl Child Quota (SGC) is 195 and the number of candidates applying for orphan category is 04.
Admissions in SOL PG will be based on CUET score
The portal for registration in postgraduate programs in SOL has been started. Director of SOL Prof. Payal Mago said that admissions in PG programs will be based on CUET score. If seats remain vacant, they will be filled through a merit-based system. However, admissions in MBA, BLISc, MLISc and PGDADLM will be done without CUET. She said that from this year, SOL will also admit students in sports category at both UG and PG levels. Students who have won medals at international or national level will be given fee exemption and further assistance.
Prof. Payal Mago gave information about financial sport schemes (FSS), she told that SOL offers dedicated financial support and discount schemes to promote inclusivity and equity in higher education. Under this, quotas have been fixed for students with disabilities (PwBD), Orphans (2 seats per programme (where seats are fixed)), applicants from Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, transgender candidates, SOL/University employees and their wards, meritorious female students (CGPA 8.5 or above), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Sports.
Admission Help Centre
The Admission Branch has set up 9 (nine) telephone helplines, email facility (ug@admission.du.ac.in, pg@admission.du.ac.in) and Chatbot facility to assist students in admission. Similarly, the School of Open Learning has also set up two Admission Help Centres which will function from 22nd June, 2025 to assist candidates in filling up the SOL forms.
